The Underground War

The Goblins sought peace with the Dwarves. Relations between both of the races grew. The Goblins taught the Dwarves their language and learned the Dwarven tongue. However on a diplomatic mission one of the Goblins sent noticed that the cave the Dwarves lived in had many veins of metals, metals such as gold, platinum, titanium, and iron. The Dwarves had set temples around these veins and worshiped the different looking rocks. The Goblins immediately began attempting to trade anything for the metals. The Dwarves refused to give up their places of worship. This cycle continued until Xareth the 22nd ordered miners to begin mining without the Dwarves permission. The Dwarves attacked and slayed every miner.
This infuriated Xareth the 22nd he ordered that the iron creations they had made to be re-smelted to make armor and swords, he then began calling the banners of war.
The Goblins attacked without mercy and slayed many Dwarves. The Dwarves retaliated, using their shamans they used the Earth itself to crush and destroy many Goblins. The war went on for many years until the Dwarves eventually surrendered and gave the Goblins their temples and a fourth of the city to pay for “damages” the war caused the Goblins. From this point forward Goblins and Dwarves have hated each other.
